Interactive Projector

Light Blue Optics (LBO) has won the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Innovation Awards 2010 prize for Product Design with its Light Touch interactive projector. The device uses an infra-red touch sensing system that transforms a projected image into a virtual 10-inch touch screen. It allows users to interact with multimedia content and applications by touching the image, which can be projected onto any flat surface.

Light Blue Optics approached UI Centric to create a compelling user interface for their unique multitouch enabled pico projector.
Because the projector uses an entirely new type of laser technology to construct images, UI Centric first created detailed metrics by meticulously measuring various properties of the device to establish a best-practice styleguide for third-party software OEMs.
After we reached a detailed understanding of the projection and touch capabilities, we then designed and built an intuitive and vivid user interface that maximises the potential of the device. Included in the interface is a multitouch photo browsing application and a media player.
