How to install Windows 7 using bootable USB drive

We have been using CDs and DVDs to install operating systems on our computers for quite some time now. With the ever increasing popularity of netbooks, things are about to change. In such cases, an external optical drive or a USB drive is required.

There are a few situations where the use of USB drive brings a certain benefit:

(1)When you want to create a live USB from an ISO image

(2)You can protect your original install media from wear and tear.

(3)When you are trying to install Windows 7 on a netbook or your optical drive is broken.

For starters, not every PC is capable of booting from a USB flash drive. For the most part, computers manufactured within the last two years are generally able to boot from a flash drive. The pen drive capacity must be a minimum of 4 gb.

Now the following are the steps required to install windows using a bootable USB:

(1)First install the boot files onto it by following either of these methods.

=> Manually : How to create bootable Windows 7 USB manually

(2)The next thing that you must do is to configure your PC to allow you to boot from the flash drive. This is all done through the computer’s BIOS Setup.

(3)You can access your computer’s BIOS by pressing a specific key immediately after you turn the PC on. The key varies, but it is usually either [F1], [F2], [Delete].

(4)Once you are in the BIOS Setup, you should verify that all of your computer’s USB options are enabled. This might include things like support for legacy USB devices or support for USB 2.0.

(5)If there is a time out setting for USB devices, you should set it to the max to insure that the system doesn’t time out while waiting on the USB device to boot.

(6)Next, find the section on boot device priority. Normally, a USB flash drive (which is usually listed as USB-HDD, but may be listed as a removable device) will have a very low boot priority.

(7)If the USB flash drive’s boot priority is lower than the hard disk (listed as HDD) then the only time the computer would ever boot off of the USB flash drive is if the system were to fail to boot from the hard disk. You must therefore rearrange the boot device priority so that the flash drive has a higher priority than the hard drive.

(8)After configuring the PC reboot the system and insert the USB pendrive onto which the boot files are created and install the new WINDOWS 7.

How to know my Windows 7 and Vista Operating System Genuine or not

Anyone who already has a copy of Windows operating system like Windows 7 or windows Vista or office and wants to check  or wants to know whether the software is genuine  or not .You can visit www.microsoft.com/genuine .

What is Validation?

Validation is an online process that lets you verify that your copy of Windows is genuine. Validation is supported for some versions of Windows.
Validation might be required
  • For your copy of Windows before you can get downloads and some updates from Microsoft, which are reserved for PCs running genuine Windows.
  • Windows might also prompt you to run genuine validation if activation is not properly completed. All customers can access security updates using Automatic Updates.
If your copy of Windows fails validation, the validation results page will detail why Windows was not genuine, as well as instruct you how to quickly and easily resolve the issue. No personally identifiable information is collected.

What is Verification?

Activation pairs your product key with your hardware configuration and helps verify that your copy of Windows hasn't been used on more computers than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow.

Why Windows Fail Validation?

There are 3 reasons that cause your Windows might fail Genuine validation test.
  1. Repairs
  2. 1 License = 1 PC
  3. Counterfeit software
Repairs. You might start to see messages on your desktop that Windows is not genuine after your PC has been repaired. Validation can fail after a repair because some repairs require reinstallation of Windows and during the process, the shop or person repairing your PC used a product key to activate Windows that was different than the one used to activate Windows when it was originally installed. You might not see notifications that Windows isn’t genuine until after you try to download something from the Microsoft Download Center that requires validation, and validation fails. To get genuine, re-enter your original product key to properly activate Windows.

1 License = 1 PC. Another common cause of Windows validation failure happens when you try to install Windows on more computers than your license allows. For instance, if you purchased one copy of Windows and installed in on more than one PC, online validation might fail because the product key has already been used on another computer. Normally, the rule to follow for most copies of Windows is that only one copy of Windows can be installed on one PC.

Counterfeit software. Validation will also fail if you’ve inadvertently acquired and installed counterfeit Windows.Validation failure is also common for counterfeit Windows that was purchased either by itself, perhaps from an online auction site, or even installed on a used PC that was purchased online or in-person. Remember to ask the seller to include the original Windows disc and the Certificate of Authenticity
