MNP ( Mobile Number Portability )

What is MNP?
Ever frustrated with your current service provider? Want to move a better service provider by keeping your present number..? This is just the right time. There are millions of cell phone users in India, So with MNP it gives you freedom to shift to a better service provider with less hassle. This service is applicable to both the Prepaid as well as the Postpaid customers.

Procedure
  1. To shift, send an SMS “PORT” followed by your mobile number from your phone to 1900.
  2. Your service provider will reply with a unique porting code.
  3. Use that code while filling out a detailed form for the new service provider you want to shift to.
  4. Within 48 hours, your service will be activated, a nominal fee of Rs 19 will be charged for the same.

  • Your cell number will be switched off for only one hour. All bills after that, are paid to your new service provider. You’ll be stuck with them for at least 90 days before you can shift again.
  • While you can shift from a GSM service to CDMA or vice versa, you cannot shift from one circle to another. If you do, roaming charges will be applied as usual.
  • When you port your number, you also need to change your SIM
  • For a prepaid number, carry forward of any balance to the new service provider is not permitted.

1. When an activated connection can change to new mobile operator?
Ans: An activated connection can change to new mobile operator only after 90 days

2. Will balance talk time remain for Prepaid users after switching?
Ans:Prepaid users balance talk time will lose after switching

3. Can a post paid user with unbilled payment apply to MNP?
Ans: A post paid user should be pay and clear all dues before applying to switch

4. Can we cancel our request to switch into new service provider after submission of application?
Ans: The request to switch over your connection can be cancelled within one day and can be be processed a new request within 7 days

5. Can we can switch over from Pre paid to Post paid and vice versa ?
Ans: You can switch over from Pre paid to Post paid and vice versa without changing its number

6. Can I change again to new service provider Once I have ported my connection?
Ans: Once you changed your number into a new service provider, you cannot change within next 90 days.

7. How much Time it will take to active by new service provider?
Mobile number porting will take maximum 7 days to complete, but the number will be active just after two hours. The transformation wiill take place normally the midnight between 12 am and 5 am for convenience for users.

8. Can we switch over our connection from CDMA phone to GSM?
Ans: If you change the CDMA mobile phone to other phone which supports GSM, you can switch over our connection from CDMA phone to GSM

9. How much is the cost for MNP?
Ans: Rs. 19 is the price for transformation of mobile number, but you have to take new sim for which you must pay the usual cost of a new sim.

10. Can I switch over the number to any other state from Andhra pradesh?
Ans: No.currently You cannot change into any other state. Right now MNP is available only within the same state circle only.

11. Do I take new connection for MNP ?
Ans: Yes, The new service provider will give you a new SIM card when u submit your application?

13. Will my old contacts remain in the new sim card?
Ans: No You want to restore them before you apply for MNP.
